(WATERLOO) - A Waterloo mother and her 10-year-old daughter are still trying to find a permanent place to stay after an apartment fire displaced them from Knoll Creek apartments in May.

21Alive reports Kristina Greig has lived at Knoll Creek since 2019. She says almost everything she and her daughter, Charlie, owned was destroyed in the fire.

Greig says a police officer knocked on her door the night of the fire and told her the roof was on fire and she needed to evacuate.

Since then, Greig says she and her daughter have been staying in a friend's basement.

Greig says she and her daughter must leave their temporary housing by Sunday and have nowhere else to go.

21Alive reports it contacted Knoll Creek's management company for an update and was still waiting for a response.

Anyone who wants to help Greig can email her at krrimarte@gmail.com.
